We are a small company with a single conviction. That somewhere beyond the routes everyone takes, the world is still extraordinary. Notos is how we reach those places, and how we bring a few travellers with us.
Our Journey
Notos is the meeting point of two lifelong passions: food and travel.
Allegra spent years cooking in kitchens across Europe and North America before discovering that her favourite aspect of hospitality is what happens around the table. While cooking and hosting creative retreats on the Greek island of Andros, she saw how food could anchor people to a place and to one another.
Gavriil was raised on a Greek island in a family with three generations in the travel industry. He is an endlessly curious traveller himself and has spent years seeking out the people, stories, and places that exist beyond the obvious.
Together, they created Notos: a collection of experiences rooted in wonderful places and brought to life through the meals, people, and experiences shared in them.
Our Name
Notos is the Greek word for South and the name the ancients gave the warm wind that rises from it. For us, it represents a different way of orienting ourselves in the world.
For centuries, the North has been a fixed point of reference, symbolic of progress, ambition, and certainty. Yet when everyone is looking in the same direction, it's easy to miss what lies elsewhere.
Instead we look South, toward the unexpected and the unrushed. The quiet path is rarely the obvious one, but we believe that it can be just as rewarding.
Our Purpose
We created Notos for the curious and adventurous.
Our aim is to offer experiences that go beyond the obvious, connecting travellers with places and communities in a meaningful way.
For every retreat, we work closely with local guides, hosts, cooks, artists, and craftspeople to create itineraries that reflect the character of a place through the eyes of those who know it best.
We believe travel should benefit the communities that make it possible. That means paying well above local standards, building long-term relationships with our partners, and ensuring that the value created by each journey is shared with the people who welcome us.
